Probably been said before, but I remember wishing to skip the adverts and get on with watching the programme. Now, I'm sat actually watching and seeking out those adverts (especially the Christmas ones)! Jolly good show, keep 'em coming and thanks for posting.

I remember most of these, and no, they don't make them like this any more. Then again, most of the products being advertised in them aren't allowed to be advertised on daytime TV as they encourage unhealthy eating habits, and at least one other would be considered sexist. Oh, how times have changed! Things were, and life in general was so much simpler back then. No doubt today's kids would find it ineffably boring. Still, sometimes spending some time in the slow lane does us all good, a lesson many of us seem to have forgotten.

Yes this had one of the late night can't buy in the shops.

I think Carling is only as popular because of the funny adverts that people still remember, it’s the worst tasteless pißwasser. I drank Boding tons pretty much as I liked Mel Sykes, and my brother named his hamster Widget

Miss these days. Any luck on those late night music compilations with the line "you can't buy these in the shops". Remember one with a woman in leather riding a bike. God only knows why I recall this 😗 *innocently whistles*

80s ads were facebook reels today

No more building societies here in Australia anymore, they are now called mutual banks and just recently a heap of them are undergoing mergers to become bigger and supposedly better. I believe within the next 5-10 years we will only have the big 4 publicly listed banks and their subsidiaries and around 4-5 giant mutuals to choose from.

Great memories of when I was a kid. So long ago. What a different world we lived in. This world is crazy now I feel sorry for the kids.

Other than me, who else was bribed by adverts from the Midland Bank in Smash Hits and Beeb magazine to become a Griffin Saver just to get a crappy sports bag, maths set and dictionary, and in the subsequent decades, have paid a fortune in fees and mortgage interest to the now renamed HSBC because they are too lazy to change?

Just a thought :- These ads were, primarily, for UK banks and building societies (cards excepted) and were aimed at domestic audiences which allowed for a greater degree of creativity as opposed to the global audiences most tv ads are aimed at these days. It’s not just nostalgia, most of these commercials are actually entertaining. (My two penn’orth anyway)

OMG! I actually have just realised I remember the finger of fudge advert and jingle. Must have been burnt into my brain as a child. And now I feel ancient and need a lie down.....😂. Seriously though, great compilation.

These are fab Steve! I used to work for the Giro bank in Bootle. Great place to work and a great bank. Government hated us and privatised it! Can't believe that's Dom Deluise from Cannonball Run in that Scottish Amicable ad! Oh, Midland bank. I went there once. They didn't give me any money, but they listened 🤣Thanks Steve.

I've had that _Cyber Razor Cut_ advert (6:10) as a ring tone on my phone for years now - I genuinely think it's one of the best advert jingles ever.

I don't think I've ever heard of _The Young Ones_ game, but I do clearly remember having the (tangentially-related) game adaptation of Adrian Edmonson's _How to Be a Complete Bastard_ for my Amstrad, and feeling a little thrill that I probably shouldn't be playing it and that my parents wouldn't be happy 😄 (I remember little of the game, though, beyond putting cling film on the toilet, setting light to coats on the coat rack, "Monster Get Pissed Fast" lager and the term "Destructobas".)

John Watson is the F1 driver featured in the Enduro ad (if it hadn't been for his surname on his helmet I don't think I would've placed him). I doubt his is a name many know nowadays, but he would've been pretty well-known at the time - he was third in the F1 championship the year before _Enduro_ came out - but there are so many much more well-known drivers in that year's F1, at least for me.
